CLINICAL LABORATORY TESTS
Most of our clinical laboratory procedures are done in our office laboratory by our technical staff skilled in dermatology procedures. This is a convenience to our patients so they do not have to go to another location and the results of the procedure are furnished in most cases on a same day basis. Should your blood work need to be sent to an outside laboratory, the outside laboratory may bill the patient; otherwise, The Dermatology Clinic will bill all other laboratory work. It is the patients’ responsibility to know if the policy requires a specific lab to be used.
PATHOLOGY LABORATORY TESTS
All pathology procedures are done in our office laboratory and the slides are read by our staff dermatopathologist. These reports, both clinical and pathology, are recorded on the chart and shown to the physician. If the results show any abnormalities or pathological changes, the doctor or nurse will contact the patient by telephone and/or letter. On occasion, these slides may be sent out for a second opinion. We will forward your insurance information to the outside company used and you will be billed accordingly.
